The market town of Alvaiázere is located in Central Portugal approximately one and three quarter hours' drive from Lisbon airport.
The town was named by invading Arabs in the eighth century. They baptised the town Al-Bai-Zir and over the years it has evolved to it's present name Alvaiázere.

Alvaiázere is a small market town which has all amenities for modern day living including several supermarkets, a health centre, hospital, sports complex, library, museum, tourist information centre, town hall, an assortment of shops and boutiques as well as many cafe bars and restaurants. Each week there is a market within the town centre and during the summer months the town comes alive with a variety of festivals. |
